1965 Jose Ramirez 1a Classical Guitar
Cedar top, Brazilian Rosewood back & sides
Cedar top, Brazilian Rosewood back & sides
This is a very good example of a Ramirez 1a from this time. It is rich in the typical Spanish way with clarity and balance. It is in good condition with some fingernail marks, minor dings and scratches. There is a minimal wear on the neck - probably from use of a flamenco capo.
The sides of the very bottom 2 inches of the back are ever so slightly separating from the middle strip but it's totally stable with the inside original wood strip holding it together - not noticeable unless you run your fingers over the area. It's light in weight compared to the same model as the years progressed. This is a pre "Sherry-Brenner" guitar as the label reflects the absence of a "Sherry-Brenner" sticker. There are no cracks or repairs.
The P.C. initials stamp shows that it was made by Pedro Contreras.
Scale length: 664mm - Nut width: 54mm
With the original "triangular" case
