24 Preludios para Guitarra
[Solo Guitar] [Book & Online Audio]
THIS IS THE FIRST CRITICAL EDITION OF THESE WORKS WHICH, WE HOPE, PROVIDES A STANDARD READING THAT EXAMINES AND RESOLVES MANY STILL UNEXPLAINED DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE COMPOSER'S MANUSCRIPTS, OUR EDITED MUSICAL TEXT, AND EARLIER EDITIONS.
Seventy years after Ponce's death in 1948, we celebrate his life with a new critical performance edition of his 24 Preludios, reissued by Stefano Grondona from the original manuscripts. We are proud to present a completely new edition together with a recording of the 24 Preludios para guitarra. This is the first critical edition of the 24 Preludios para guitarra. MP3 tracks of Stefano Grondona's recording are available for download with a code printed in the sheet music edition.
This issue is actually two issues in one. It is not only a performance edition meticulously fingered by Stefano Grondona, but also an Urtext edition of the original manuscripts. Our pragmatic critical apparatus allows the musician to see simply and clearly what was in the original manuscripts and what was not.
With this publication it is now possible to clarify some long-standing questions relevant to our goal of presenting an accurate final musical text; it is now possible to see where previous publications of this repertoire have deviated from the manuscripts and how we have treated these cases in our edition and how they were treated differently in previous editions.
A comprehensive critical commentary is included, as are detailed historical and informative notes on the selection of works and how and why our edition acquired its current form and content. Finally, we believe we have an edition that has the form the composer intended and that also includes new source material, such as the Ramaugé manuscript for Prelude No. 6.
