4 Pieces
[Solo Guitar] [facsimiles included]
Cancion del Emperador, Quatro Differencias, Baxa de Contrapunto, Fantasia
"Cancion del Emperador" is an intavolation of the four-part chanson "Mille regretz" by Josquin des Prés. A supplementary sheet contains the choral writing, which can also be performed by two or four guitars, and the tablature in facsimile. "Quatro Diferencias" are variations on a popular model - "Guárdame las vacas" - of the Spanish Renaissance. Here, too, the first variation is reproduced in facsimile. "Baxa de Contrapunto" shows the figured treatment of a dance tune. Finally, the "Fantasia" is a typical example of the musical development of this form of composition.
