6 Variations Caracteristiques
[Solo Guitar]
Here is a theme and variation composed by Francis Kleynjans on a traditional theme from Auvergne. The popular character of this 3-beat peasant dance is enhanced by the guitar.
In the 6 variations that follow, the composer uses unorthodox techniques for each variation and thus broadens the field of possibilities of the guitar. There is tapping with both hands in the first variation, characterizing the two melodic lines.
The second variation takes on a humorous touch thanks to the use of glissandi and grace notes. In the third variation we will find a game mode using a rare technique. This consists of playing notes behind the left hand which presses certain notes. Thus, we obtain a very soft sound, "like a mandolin", as the author mentions.
Each variation uses a very particular technique and requires great attention to produce the desired effect.
The ingenuity lies in the different techniques used in these variations offering new sounds and allowing new effects to be explored on the guitar.
This music clearly shows the imprint of guitarist Francis Kleynjans, perfectly mastering the possibilities of his instrument.
This new masterpiece will enrich the modern guitar repertoire. Surprise effect guaranteed! This piece could be performed by a mid-secondary student.
