A Psalm of Thanksgiving
A Psalm of Thanksgiving was the result of Hand's meditation on Psalm 100, as part of a project to explore the relationship between music and philosophy. What came out was his unfiltered musical expression of the text, "without judgment." Hand describes the piece, "It begins with a musical dedication, using unisons and octaves. The flute entrance reflects the opening words of the psalm, 'Make a joyful noise unto the Lord,' and the rest of the piece was informed by each line of the psalm." A Psalm of Thanksgiving is joy of life, joy of music, joy of performance. For advanced performers. Dur.: 9' 30"
