Baladas del Decameron Negro
[Guitar & String Quartet] [score & parts]
Ballads from the Black Decameron is a version for guitar and string quartet of the original work for solo guitar. Brouwer made this adaptation in 2013 and dedicated it to the guitarist Edin Karamazov. In it, he expands the original material through chamber-like writing that distributes the musical discourse between the guitar and strings, reinforcing the contrasts and narrative character of each movement, without altering the meaning or identity of the three African stories that inspired the work. This edition, revised and corrected by the composer in January 2026, will be available in print and includes the full score, the guitar part, and the individual string parts.
