Bossa Calypso
[Solo Guitar]
Bossa Calypso is an unassuming little piece relying more upon the rhythmic side of things rather than any strong melodic line. With his skilful use of interesting chord sequences and harmonies Sills captures the style of the bossa nova well and the finished effect is of a very relaxed and undemanding, easy on the ear guitar piece. Of course the sound of some guitar music is very deceptive and here is a case in point. Realistically this piece needs a decent Grade 6 player to make it work from a musically view point. So anyone of that grade and above seeking new material in this style may want to give it a try. Steve Marsh (Classical Guitar Magazine)
