Chaconnitsa en La

I composed Chaconnitsa in A in October 2025 for the program Guitare de légende on Radio France. Sébastien Llinares had asked me to perform a piece of about six minutes on the show. I then realized that I didn’t have a work of that length that truly represented me. I wanted a piece of music that would reflect who I am today: a natural blend of my two cultures.
The piece takes the form of a chaconne, while incorporating complex rhythms and modes drawn from the Bulgarian tradition.
Over time, I have begun to gain some distance from my work. What I now seek is a form of natural simplicity, despite rhythmic or modal complexity. I try to integrate and assimilate all the experiences and experiments that have marked my path.
What matters to me above all is that the music not be something merely learned or imitated, but something lived and deeply internalized.
