"The Art of Fugue" was written as the last major cycle before Bach died in 1750 after an unsuccessful eye operation. The ninth piece from the cycle of a total of 23 fugues is particularly interesting because, in addition to introducing the varied subject, the composer quotes the original theme again for the first (and unique!) time. A truly grandiose fugue! With preface in Germ.and Engl. and fingerings by the arranger Tilman Hoppstock.
