Grande Valse Brillante, Op. 18 & Valse, Op. 64 #2
Daniel Göritz and Daniel Wolff met in 1994 while doing their PhD at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Their similar activities in the fields of composing, arranging and sight reading soon led to a stimulating and productive collaboration as a duo. Both had begun early on to expand their repertoire by transcribing works originally written for other instruments. The transcriptions of the present editions bring a repertoire into the realm of the guitar that has scarcely been explored here, perhaps on the assumption that the works' inherent pianistic qualities preclude an adaptation for guitar. On closer inspection, however, many of the textures that Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin served, also in the works of their contemporaries and guitarists-composers such as e.g. B. Sor, Giuliani or Aguado find. The remarkable result can be heard on the kreuzberg records CD Daniel Wolff & Daniel Göritz "New Transcriptions for 2 Guitars Vol. 1".
