Lord, I Call To You
[Guitar & Voice]
The Octoechos book, created during the 9th century, is a liturgical book containing a repertoire of hymns sNll used in many rites of the ChrisNan Orthodox Church. Osmoglasnik, which is the Church Slavonic version of the hymns, first published in 1908, was collected by the Serbian composer Stevan Mokranjac.
Lord, I Call to You or (Го́споди, воззва́х in) is the music of the evening service. The first verse of the prayer is a literal translaNon of Psalm 141 from Hebrew to Church Slavonic, transliterated here in Serbian LaNn script to make easier pronunciaNon. I have recomposed the music by contribuNng the guitar part, which is enNrely structured aYer the melody and faithfully follows all the formal constraints, including all the cadences.
