In fact, “Postcards from Spain” is not only the best piece I know of from any era by a women composer, it is a piece every guitarist should know because it is simply one of the great post WW2 compositions, period — a 13’ masterpiece.
Thea Musgrave has an enormous catalogue — including 10 operas, symphonies, choral works, and so forth — and has received zillions of performances and honors, including being named Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2002 by Queen Elizabeth. She is an old friend of Benjamin Britten and all the Bream crowd of composers.
The “2017 Revision” gives the buyer 20 years of my experience with the piece, a year’s work the composer and I put into tweaking and editing, an up-to-date bio of composer, a photo of the composer, all typos in the 1996 edition corrected, a superb engraving rather than my very first effort typesetting, better layout and page turns, as well as excellent paper, printing and binding.
