Rito de Los Orishas
[Solo Guitar]
Dedicated to Alvaro Pierri
Rite of the Orishas is structured in two fundamental sections. The first is titled "Exordium-Conjuro" and is a ternary form composed with an episode-like central section. In this work, the influence of other compositions by the Maestro can be felt, such as the Three Concertant Dances, Three Notes , and the Micropieces . The latter are clearly detected in the second section, titled "Dance of the Black Goddesses ," specifically in the section designated "Dance I."
The title of the work alone demonstrates the strong presence of the Afro-Cuban ritual world. This is evident in the comprehensive treatment of the expressive formants, independent of the mystical and multi-syncretic evocation of the religious paradigm.
