Sai Do Chao
Sai do Chao (Leave the Ground) is a Frevo edicated to the arranger musicologist, and dearest composer's friend Edgard Poas. It is a frenetic street dance from Pernambuco's Carnival. With an energetic choreography similar to the Russian folk dances, the crowd in a waving motion starts "to boil" (Ferver) and, from this idea of boiling (fervura - people pronounce frevura in the Northeast) the name Frevo was born. Orchestras like Big Bands (Orquestra de Frevos do Recife is one of the most important) normally play the Frevo, and the motifs are always presented in exchanges between brass (trumpets, trombones) and reed (clarinets and saxophones...) instruments.
