[Solo Guitar] [Book & CD]
“The Seven Preludes were composed for the virtuosos who love the juggling game always associated with expression”. With these words Angelo Gilardino introduces his new collection of solo pieces published by Edizioni Curci in the “Maestri della Chitarra” series.
The form of the "prelude" boasts illustrious precedents in the guitar repertoire, from the nineteenth-century didactics of Carulli and Giuliani, through the late romanticism of the Spanish Francisco Tárrega to the famous series by the Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos. In Angelo Gilardino's Seven Preludes the extreme refinement of writing is often associated with distant suggestions, evoked through a rich timbre palette. The song titles are: Aquiloni , Paysage de Chassy (Balthus) , Risveglio , Asturiana , Paganini , Matin d'un jour de fête and Rio de Janeiro .
In the attached CD it is possible to listen to the Seven Preludes in the virtuosic interpretation of the young Vicenza guitarist Alberto Mesirca .
Angelo Gilardino (Vercelli, 1941), composer, guitar teacher at the State Conservatories, artistic director of the Segovia Foundation in Linares (1997-2005), is one of the leading exponents of the world of six strings. For Edizioni Curci he also published La chitarra. Guide to listening to the concert repertoire ( “Private lessons” series , EC 11696) and Andrés Segovia. The man, the artist .
Angelo Gilardino (Vercelli, Italy, 1941) is one of the most important contemporary composers of guitar music. Famous all over the world for his collection of "60 Studies of virtuosity and transcendence", he has written solo guitar music (Sonatas and Variations), Concertos for guitar groups, Concertos for guitar and orchestra and a remarkable amount of chamber music works where the guitar has a major role as a concertante instrument.
