Berg's groundbreaking piano sonata built a bridge between the Romantic and the Contemporary. Berg poured so much of himself into the piece that he was unable to continue with successive movements, to which his then-teacher Arnold Schoenberg said, "Maybe [Berg] had said all that there was to say." With some trepidation and humility, Dejour has transcribed the Sonate successfully for guitar solo, with utmost care to respect the original.
