Taylor Builder's Edition 814ce Honduras Rosewood /Sinker Redwood Guitar
Sinker Redwood top, Honduras Rosewood back & sides - gloss finish
Sinker Redwood top, Honduras Rosewood back & sides - gloss finish
This lovingly contoured Builder's Edition model builds on the long heritage of our 800 Series with an experience that matches exceptional playability with a singular acoustic voice. Honduran rosewood—a denser, harder variant of the species typically used for the back and sides of our flagship model—yields a beautifully balanced response with a harmonically complex overtone profile, while the sinker redwood top delivers cedar-like warmth and remarkable soft-touch sensitivity. Inside, our V-Class bracing architecture dials up more volume, longer sustain and improved tunefulness all the way up the neck. Comfort-enhancing touches include a beveled mahogany armrest that provides a smooth surface for your strumming arm and a beveled cutaway that beautifully accommodates your fretting hand as you access the guitar's highest register. Chamfered body edges and a smooth Curve Wing bridge complete the seamless experience, making for an intimate feel that softens the boundary between player and guitar. Other details include Gotoh 510 tuning machines with an ultra-precise 18:1 gear ratio, Element fretboard inlays in shell and mother-of-pearl, and a gloss finish with a shaded edgeburst treatment.
Features

Grand Auditorium
Taylor’s signature shape embodies the ultimate all-purpose acoustic.

Honduran Rosewood
Extremely dense compared to other rosewood species, Honduran rosewood sings with a uniquely smooth voice that makes it worthy of our finest guitars.

Sinker Redwood
Tight grain structure and cross-grain stiffness produce a bold and brilliant response with warm overtones. Think cedar on steroids.

Expression System® 2
The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.

Beveled Cutaway
Our beveled cutaway design provides a more player-friendly feel for guitarists who utilize every inch of the fretboard. It features a compound design with a smoothened edge along the corner of the body between the end of the cutaway and the neck heel, providing a more comfortable feel for the fretting hand.

V-Class Bracing
Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new pattern — a new sonic engine — that marks a major shift away from traditional steel-string bracing patterns.
