The piece "Trois Figurines Sonores" was written for the duo Yaïr Benhaïm and Antoine Fougeray. At the request of violinist Yaïr Benhaïm, I used excerpts from traditional Sephardic and Ashkenazi songs in the first and second movements. The third movement refers more to my Bulgarian roots, particularly through the use of odd/irregular meters. As in most of my chamber music pieces with guitar, I wanted to give both instruments equal musical and technical importance, providing each with a rich, expressive, and demanding part.
