Alfonso Montes was born in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela in 1955 and studied music in Caracas and London. His music is deeply in the Venezuelan tradition but influenced by his European environment, particularly England and Germany where he has lived for several years. His music has been widely recorded by some of the premiere guitarists in the world including John Williams who used this edition in the recording of 'Preludio de Adios' on his CD, El Diablo Suelto.
